Description

A complete rendition of Toronto’s subway system. All four major lines are included with all stations and all divisions.

Toronto is the largest city in Canada and provides a semi-complex situation for users of the Railway program. This map may put off some beginners, but almost the entire system is automated, though the termini require manual setting.

The included timetable runs from 5:39 AM to just past 7 AM, with all of the services that run within this time span. They are based off of real-world TTC timetables, though I may have gotten a small fraction of it fictitious.

The System:
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) operates four routes in the subway system. These four routes are:
-Line 1 Yonge-University: Finch to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre
-Line 2 Bloor-Danforth: Kipling to Kennedy
-Line 3 Scarborough: Kennedy to McCowan
-Line 4 Sheppard: Sheppard-Yonge to Don Mills

This information is duplicated within the simulation.

The Routes:
Line 1 Yonge-University:
Line 1 Yonge-University starts out at Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station north of the city, heading towards downtown via Allen Road, Spadina Road, University Avenue, and Front Street before heading north again to Finch Station via Yonge Street. Certain trains instead start at several intermediate stations, including Wilson Station. Line 1 trains in the simulation are prefixed ‘1’ and either ‘F’ for Finch Station or ‘V’ for Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station.

Line 2 Bloor-Danforth:
Line 2 Bloor-Danforth operates from Kipling Avenue in the west to Kennedy Road in the east via Bloor Street, Danforth Avenue, and a hydro corridor in Scarborough. This is another line where certain trains instead start at a few intermediate stations, including Greenwood Station. Line 2 trains in the simulation are prefixed ‘2’ and either ‘E’ for east or ‘W’ for west.

Line 3 Scarborough:
Line 3 Scarborough operates between Kennedy Station and McCowan Station via a grade separated corridor beside the GO Stouffville Line tracks and an elevated corridor between Ellesmere Road and Progress Avenue. A total of five trains operate the route as a shuttle. Unlike the rest of the system, it is a heavy-duty, light rail route. Also unlike the rest of the system, trains are only routed into one track each at Kennedy Station and McCowan Station. Kennedy Station has a single track with platforms on either side, with the second track beginning just east. The track to route trains onto at McCowan Station is the north track, which in the simulation is the bottom of the two tracks. Line 3 trains in the simulation are prefixed ‘3’ and either ‘E’ for east or ‘W’ for west.

Line 4 Sheppard:
Line 4 Sheppard is a short service that operates from Yonge Street on the Yonge subway in the west and Don Mills Road in the east via Sheppard Avenue East. A total of four trains operate the route as a shuttle. Trains can be routed onto either track at Sheppard-Yonge and at Don Mills. Line 4 trains in the simulation are prefixed ‘4’ and either ‘E’ for east or ‘W’ for west.

Enjoy and thanks for downloading!
