This route covers the busy routes around Wakefield, West Yorkshire. This route contains the two main stations in Wakefield, Westgate and Kirkgate, as well as several surrounding stations.

This route is designed to be a continuation of Daniel Gill’s Penistone Line route, which you can find here.

Simulation

The included timetable starts at 0700 and is based on a weekday in the December 2019 timetable.

It contains the following services:

  • LNER services between Leeds and London
  • CrossCountry services between Newcastle/Scotland and Birmingham/Penzance
  • Many Northern services between Leeds, Sheffield, Knottingley, Huddersfield and Castleford
  • A few Grand Central services between Bradford and London

During the included timetable, no services will use the “Towards Doncaster”, “Monk Bretton Redfearns”, “Wakefield Europort” or “Towards York” continuations. It is also recommended that you remove the automatic route generated East of Castleford, as this may cause issues for trains turning around there.

The South platform at Castleford is not currently in use.

Development

This project is open on the ROS GitHub which means anyone can contribute to the project. You are welcome to contribute towards this route, may that be creating further timetables, or changing aspects of the route.

The included timetable for this project was created with an external program called TTbuilder. If you’d like to contribute to this specific timetable, have a look at the GitHub repository for more information. You are also welcome to create a further timetable using the conventional method.

If you require any assistance in creation of a timetable or submitting it through GitHub, then visit the helpdesk channel on the ROS community Discord and we’ll be happy to help.
