2011 Archive

27 December 2011:  New project added – Churchville by Bjorn Verzijlbergh
25 December 2011:  Sneak preview added of Bradley Kempster’s new project – Metropolitan Line from Uxbridge to Rayners Lane
24 December 2011:  New program version 1.1.3 added.  This corrects the error mentioned below where adjacent level crossings on the same track caused problems.  The change prevents level crossing being placed next to each other.  A note has also been added to the User Manual and in program help in section 5.4 Timetable validation.  This states:  “Note that a train that is timetabled to stop at the same station twice without a change of direction in between (running in a ring for example) will cause a validation error as the checker thinks that the second entry is a mistake. To get round this restriction there must be a change of service (Fns – Sns combination) before the station is reached for the second time.”  Bjorn recognised this problem when trying to run a train in a loop on his railway and I realised that I had not mentioned it in the manual or in the help file.
21 December 2011:  Level crossing error warning!  Bjorn Verzijlbergh has discovered that if two level crossings are placed next to each other on the same track then weird things happen when setting routes and when trains try to cross!  I need to think about how best to deal with this situation but in the meantime please avoid having adjacent crossings on the same track.  My thanks to Bjorn for bringing this to my attention.
